I will be 17 in a month and a half and I still do not have a car. My dad thinks it’s okay for me to ride with me neighbor to school when I’m 17. People at my school all have cars, and most of them are BMW, and Range Rovers. I am not asking for that. I’d take anything.
When I first got my license my dad told me he would buy me a car when my brother went to college. Well, he left. When I reminded my dad about that, he said he didn’t sign a paper about it!
I do not know why my dad is making a big deal about getting me a car! My brother got one when he was 16!
Anyways, help me out!

Show him you’re responsible and aren’t going to go and slam it into some wall. Offer to put some money towards it etc. There is bound to be a reason why he isn’t letting you have one, ask him straight out and see what he says. It could be that money is tight, thinks you’re being ungrateful or aren’t responsible enough.
Here’s a novel idea, why not get a job (you can walk, ride the bus, or ride a bike to) save up for a car of your own. He isn’t obligated to buy you a car. Maybe he would meet you half way on the price. However with your expectant attitude, I wouldn’t buy you a car. I bought my own car and paid my own insurance by working. it is his responsibility to feed you, and put a shelter over your head, not buy you something to drive. YOu want one so bad, save your money. At 17 i had not one but 2 jobs outside of school.
maybe your dad isnt in the financial situation right now to get you a car. the economy right now sucks
he just sent your bro to college. do you know how much that costs? a lot. and do you know how much gas costs? a lot. and unless you have a job and are gonna pay for it, hes going to have to. and car insurance for a 17 year old? yeah pretty high.
and yeah it is okay for you to drive with your neighbor to school.
